6 Baby Must Haves

Let’s face it, as women the second we find out we are pregnant it is in our nature to run to the store and shop. Even if we’re not necessarily buying, it’s just fun for us to look and be prepared. Because let’s be real, what is more fun than baby shopping?!?! This time around I realized there was A MILLION new baby items out there. Stuff that never existed when I was pregnant with Hailey. So naturally, I did what every mom does, I said I needed all of it. Then I registered for it. Then I bought everything I didn’t get after my baby shower. #imcrazy.

It didn’t take long to realize I was so wrong. You actually never know what your baby is going to like or dislike until your baby arrives unfortunately. Then some of the other stuff is just wasted space in your house that you didn’t actually need or use at all. I don’t know about you but it just made me mad to look at it all and think, what a waste of money. So here is a list of some things you should ACTUALLY invest in, the other stuff is just that, stuff.

1. The Dock-A-Tot, if you haven’t already ordered one, do it right now. Like right now. It was the biggest life saver!! I tried other side by side sleepers and non of them even compared. She would wake up instantly with me putting them in them. They weren’t as comfortable and didn’t have the soft padding. Yes, the Dock-A-Tot is a little pricey but if you want your baby to be comfortable and sleep then it’s worth it. Or even if you want to sleep, worth it. It is also made with the most breathable fabric so you don’t have to worry about your little babe suffocating. Especially if your baby is like mine and likes to snuggle their face in the side of it. It’s also super easy to travel with and bring on the go!

2. A Rock N Play. At first between having a swing and a bouncer seat, I thought I didn’t need one. That and I really barely knew anything about them. I had seen it in stores but didn’t ever look into what it actually did. Then, it turned out Rory didn’t care for her swing after a couple of weeks but loved rocking around. So I knew I had to do something. I had seen so many bloggers posting about the “rock n play” and I kept thinking, this might work. At first I was only really hesitant about getting one because I thought, do I really need another item taking up space in the house? (I’m a neat freak). But, when she stopped completely wanting to be in her bouncer seat and swing, I went online and ordered one immediately. Let’s face it, all us moms need a way to put our babies down for a minute to accomplish anything. This was PERFECT. She loved rocking, loved the music, and loved playing in it! And I love how easily it folded up and I could store it! Side note: make sure you get the auto one that plugs in and moves on it’s own! So you don’t have to sit there and rock it.

3. Dohm Noise Sound Machine. Even if you have other kids or you don’t, the sound machine makes a world of a difference. It makes almost a, “shhhhh” sound and does an impeccable job blocking out other noises. Not to mention, it was instantly putting me to sleep let alone Rory! Between Hailey (who is 8) running around like crazy, we live on a main road. So unfortunately, so you can hear the traffic right outside Rory’s window and this machine even blocks that out! Not to mention, her room is closest to the living room and I didn’t want her to wake from the TV or when we have company over. It works magic, I promise, I even want one for my room. Haha

4. A Rocking Chair. I didn’t have one with Hailey and MAN WAS I MISSING OUT. With Hailey I had to walk and walk and walk and walk until she would fall asleep. Now, with Rory, I just walk her until she is starting to fall asleep and then rock her until she is out. It’s amazing and makes us both happy. Even for nap time she LOVES being rocked. I’m sure any kind is fine but I’ll link the one I specifically got.

5. 4 Moms Infant Tub. Honestly, I went with this one on a limb. I had no information on it other than what the package said at the store and that seemed to do it for me. (I’m an easy sell lol) I instantly registered for it and I’m so happy I got it, thanks Molly and Jill! I love it because of the color-coded digital thermometer and it’s designed to be used with running water, that way dirty water flows out as clean water flows in. Making sure your baby is definitely getting squeaky clean! Rory is almost seven months now and still fits perfectly in it.

6. Last but not least… a FUNCTIONAL (fashion forward) diaper bag. This was another HUGE Aussie with Hailey. They had only designed those cheesy ugly huge ones when she was born and it was awful. So it took me forever to look for the perfect one. Finally I found the Skiphop Greenwich Simply Chic Diaper Backpack. It was perfect for me. It was a neutral color (comes in others though). It hooks onto the stroller easily with straps. You can wear it on your back and not worry about holding another item when holding your baby. It has tons of pockets and compartments. It can be cleaned easily. And so much more. I MEAN IT WAS PERFECT. I love it. I’ll probably use it for a really long time honestly. The quality alone is worth it for the price. It’s been through hell and back already and has survived. It’s sold out at Nordstrom where I originally got it but they sell it on Target and Skiphop website alone. Link below.

Hope this helps all the new or soon to be mommas out there. Would you like a blog on the items I didn’t use much or AT ALL? Ya know, the wasted space items. Let me know!
